Our obligations under the Privacy Act

 

Anglicare WA must comply with Australian Privacy Law including the Privacy Act which sets out the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) which control how we collect, hold, use and share your personal information, and how you may access and correct personal information we hold about you.

Anglicare WA collects your personal information to provide services to you.

The type and extent of personal information collected, varies depending on how you engage with us. We collect personal and sensitive information from our workers, volunteers, clients, donors, business partners and online users.

Anglicare WA sometimes conducts research which may include the collection of your personal information. 

Any research outcomes or reports do not individually identify you, unless you give your prior consent.

We use the information we collect to run our business, provide services, and improve them. 

We will ask for your consent before using your information for different purpose other than originally intended.

 

Information security

 

We restrict access to your information to only those people who need to know in order to process it for us.  They must keep it confidential.

We will protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

 

Information we share

 

We do not share your personal information with companies, organisations and individuals outside of Anglicare WA unless:

• We have your consent to share

• It is processed externally by trusted businesses or persons, based on our instructions and in compliance the Privacy Act

• It is for legal reasons to meet any laws, regulations or request 

 

Information for under 18s

If you are under 18, we might need permission from a parent / guardian, but we will talk to you about this when you first engage with our services.

Accessing and correcting your personal information

 

You can request access to the personal information that we hold about you by contacting us. Where we cannot give you access immediately, we will respond to you within 30 days.

If access is refused, we will tell you why in writing.

If you believe that the personal information Anglicare WA holds about you is not correct, complete or up to date, Anglicare WA will try to correct it. You can contact us anytime.
